Blogging Product Review: Blogging To The Bank

Blogging to the Bank is basically a brand these days. That means as soon as author Rob Benwell releases something people flock to it like crazy! Unfortunately, that's a trend that likely won't continue if future products are like this one.

It's not that Blogging to the Bank 3.0 is completely unhelpful. It can certainly help some newbies who have no idea how to get started. However, the promises of making thousands upon thousands of dollars will not likely come true as a result of reading this book and implementing the methods.

While we don't doubt that Rob makes a great living from his blogs, he certainly doesn't disclose very much information about how to do it here. He barely scratches the surface of making any income online, much less a six figure income! The steps are just not there. For instance, he talks about selling the blogs for fast income, but doesn't go in depth as to how or where. It's details like that that will make this book a pass for many people.

This is a little bit nitpicky -- but it really has to be said! The proofreader must have been busy because Rob gets you all excited to learn about the 3 big changes in blogging that you need to pay close attention to. The first two are great and then...there is no third! We'll have to wait for the next update to find out what that revelation was.

With that being said, there are some good sections people who enjoy collecting the Blogging to the Bank series might enjoy. The opening section is quite and good talks about building a real business and steering clear of free blogs. This is a huge departure from the first B to the B, which mostly discussed using free blogs to make money. There are also 5 blogging commandments that Blogging to the Bank 3.0 covers. These are essential for every blogger to follow.

In addition to that you'll find:

  • Monetization options
  • Where to find content so you don't have to write all the time (covers free and paid content)
  • Where to get traffic (Web 2.0, article marketing, etc.)

There is an intriguing section at the end that talks about how to get indexed fast. People who've had to deal with slow Google indexing will appreciate the free service Rob discusses here. Another cool bonus section at the end talks about a little known tactic to get high quality backlinks for free, for just a few minutes work. This is something we'll try on our own blogs and hope to see success.

Overall, this book is a lot shorter than others we've reviewed and it just doesn't deliver on the goods. Still, if you are curious about the Blogging to the Bank craze you might want to pick this up -- it also includes the first edition. If you want a package that contains a lot more meat and helpful steps, you will want to go with one of the other options. Sadly, it seems like this ebook was just thrown together to cash in on a series that once held a lot of weight.

Blogging Product Review: Super Affiliate Blogger

It's hard not to be interested in Affiliate Marketing. What could be better than selling a product, getting paid, and not having to handle order fulfillment or anything else? It's a great way to make money, and when you combine affiliate marketing and blogging the results are unstoppable.

Super Affiliate Blogger is an ebook on blogging at its core, but it takes a different slant than the other books we reviewed. This one helps you get started on blogging much like the others, but the focus on affiliate marketing really sets this one apart.

You'll discover how to:

  • Set up your blog (basic and advanced information is covered)
  • Use keywords and implement SEO strategies
  • Optimize your posts and creating compelling titles
  • Use Link exchanges and other methods of driving traffic

Now, those are things you'll find in most ebooks that tell you how to get started with blogging. Super Affiliate Blogger also contains a very large section (this is not a short ebook) on affiliate marketing. Everything you need to know is covered from what affiliate marketing is to more advanced techniques.

This information is really wonderful, but it does lead to more advanced concepts -- a little too quickly. While much of the book focuses on fairly easy strategies, it soon turns to things like setting up an entire affiliate marketing funnel, complete with Pay Per Click and landing pages.

This shouldn't be an issue at all for people who have been doing this for a while, but those who are new will probably become very frustrated. Not only do they need to learn how to blog using this strategy, they also need to learn how to code a landing page, figure out their opt-in box, AND take the chance on PPC, among other things.

With that being said, this section is highly valuable for people who are ready for it. Newbies can probably handle it with some patience, but some will likely become a bit overwhelmed.

Moving along to traffic -- we really like this section! It went more in depth about using RSS feeds and submitting them to directories than any other guide we've reviewed so far. This is a great thing because rankings on the Internet and best practices for getting traffic are always changing. At this point in the game, knowledge about RSS feeds is critical.

This package comes with some bonuses that really helps to make it complete. First, there is a list of codes that will help you optimize your blog. These are must-haves. They are easy to implement, but not too many people do. That will give you a big advantage over the competition.

In addition to the codes, Super Affiliate Blogger also comes with custom templates. These come in a variety of different styles to suit different niches. Finding good themes can be hard to do, and customizing them is even harder. These themes are great for newbies and experienced people alike.

Super Affiliate Blogger is a no-brainer choice if your main goal is to become a top affiliate to pull in a great income. If you don't want to build landing pages, build a list, etc. You may want to go with a different product. If you want follow in the footsteps of blogging affiliate marketers who are already successful, you really can't go wrong with this product.

Using Free Blog Themes To Spice Up Your Blog Design

It used to be that if you wanted a professional looking site you had to pay big bucks to get a designer to do it. These days all you need to do is a quick Wordpress installation and you're well on your way to a site that looks like it took thousands of dollars to design. Finding free themes is the fastest way to give your blog the makeover it deserves.

You might be wondering why people would give away themes for free in the first place. The main reason is because they often include a link to their website in the footer of the theme. This is great for them because they get tons of relevant links to their site from people who install their blogging theme. You can benefit from this because the link is hardly noticeable, and you get the the design for free!

There are many different free blog themes out there so it can be hard to decide which one to go with. The first thing you should do is a search in Google for "your niche WP theme". If there is a theme out there that is a match you'll likely run across it that way.

If you're very stuck and just can't find a good theme you can search through the database they have at Wordpress.org. That site allows you to sort by color, style, and many other criteria as well.

Hopefully you will have found a great theme that you can put to use right away. If you can't seem to find that one perfect one -- don't get too hung up! It's very easy to change the theme down the road. All you need to do is upload the theme folder that you download from the Internet to the wp-content area under themes. Then, you'll activate the theme in your wp-admin area, and you're done designing!

While you can certainly choose any theme you prefer, there are some things you should keep in mind when choosing your theme. The first is to make sure your background is white. There are successful sites out there that have a dark background, but studies have shown that people can read darker colors on top of white better than they can the other way around. Always keep your reader at the top of your mind.

You also need to carefully consider how many sidebars you're going to choose. This is very important as some sidebars will allow for better ad positioning than others. Test different ones and see what you like!

If you can't find anything you like, browse through other blogs. You're bound to see something that interests you. When you choose one you can scroll to the very bottom to see which theme they are using. The free themes usually have the name present. You can follow the link through to download it yourself and you're done!

Using free blog themes is a great, instant, way to make sure your blog has a professional design your visitors will love. Get inspired today!

How To Write Compelling Blog Posts That Get Attention

Writing compelling blog posts is one of the most important aspects of blogging -- if not THE most important. It doesn't matter how well you market and drive traffic, if the content stinks it's going to get you nowhere. The good news is that you can learn how to write compelling blog posts that will really draw the attention of your target audience.

There are a few different kinds of posts you might want to create. You can write a pure content post that is well-written and contains incredibly helpful information. Another option is to look at the news results for your niche in Google news. Capitalize on the trends by posting high quality opinion pieces on what's being reported. Yet another option is to write product reviews to help people make buying decisions.

These all have a place on your blog, and all three types are things that visitors look for. It's important to know the differences between them, but it's also important to understand how they are all the same. It comes down to the A.I.D.A formula.

Attention

The first thing you need to pay attention to in your blog posts is how the reader's attention will be captured right off the bat. You can do this with a great headline and a great first few sentences that really suck the reader in.

Interest

You really only have 10 seconds to keep someone's attention going as they read through your post. Remember, people are very busy these days and they've got a million other blogs to read. Keep your article interesting and focused on the aim of the post (informational, newsworthy, review, etc.). Make sure your writing isn't dry!

Desire

Now, this section changes depending on your goal. If you are writing a review article as an affiliate you're going to want to create a very strong desire for the product or service. If you're writing an article that is purely informational you can still use this principle, just in a different way. You still want to stir people's emotions and get them to think.

Action

This last piece is very important. There is always something you want people to do on your blog. You either want them to buy something, comment, or sign up for your list. You don't want them to just go away! Make sure you include a call to action that is related to the post you've created. This fits best when you're selling a product or writing a review, but it certainly works with any post you make on your blog. A huge part of being a successful blogger is getting people "stick around" and take some kind of action.

There are many different ways to write compelling blog posts, but the AIDA principle is something they all have in common. People move quickly on the web, so you need to write something that will call out to them and possibly stir their emotions.

How To Choose Top Converting Affiliate Programs For Your Blog

Many people have had the issue where they choose some affiliate products to promote, only to find that the traffic is there but the sales aren't. There is nothing more frustrating! The best way to prevent this from happening in the future is to make sure you are choosing the right affiliate products from the start.

It can feel like you need to be psychic to figure this out. Luckily, there are many tools at your disposal -- no special powers needed! These tools are also free, and can help you immensely when it comes to choosing profitable affiliate products.

The first thing you need to do is some market research. Search around on the Internet to find where people in your niche hang out. The chances are good that you'll find a forum or message board, You can read through these posts to see what kind of product these people would be most interested in.

You see, some markets are better suited to digital products. Other markets are much more attuned with physical products. This is very important for you to know so you always choose the right kind of product.

You can take this a step further by "spying" on your competition. If there is a major blog in your niche you should go look through it. Figure out what they are promoting and how they are doing it. You can't be sure, but the chances are good that if they are established and highly ranked they have done a lot of market research themselves. You can simply use this data to help you figure out what the best fit for your site will be. Remember, a product that is not targeted will make far less sales (if any) than one that is targeted.

After you've decided exactly what kind of affiliate product to promote you can start to look into the specific product or affiliate network. Many of the networks will give you some kind of data that you can use to figure out if it's an offer that sells (look at present and historical data). It is important to remember there are many variables that go into these numbers, so use them as a guideline.

Once you think you've chosen a good product you should look at their sales page or website.

The site should:

  • Have well-written copy
  • Have symbols of trust (verification signs, trusted company logos, etc.)
  • Include a Phone number (increases trust)
  • Have few distractions (increases conversions)

The site you link to can truly either make or break you! Even if you've done a good job of pre-selling the product (described below), the customer will ultimately make her decision based on the sales page and whether or not she things it's a good offer.

Last but not least, you need to do a good job of pre-selling the product. That means letting your visitors know that this is a great product for them by either showcasing banners on your site, writing a review about it, etc. In order to learn how to write a good presell, you should consider learning the basics of good copywriting.

When you put all these pieces together you'll have a much easier time making great affiliate sales on your blog!

How To Choose A Niche Topic To Blog About

After you've made the decision to become a blogger, you need to figure out what your blog is going to be about! It can seem like an impossible choice since there are so many topics out there. Luckily, there are some easy ways you can narrow the choice down. It's important to like the niche and know that it's possible to earn a good income from it.

Step One: Brainstorm Ideas

The great thing about niche blogging is that there is no shortage of topics you can blog about. There are billions of people in the world and they all have varied interests, hobbies, and things they need or want to spend their money on. You're simply going to choose one of the many options.

First you've got to get some ideas! Don't worry -- you don't have to think of them all on your own. You can browse through magazine stands, look through online forum sites, browse the categories at sites like Amazon, etc.

For now, write down anything that sounds like a great blogging niche. There will be time to perfect this choice later. Keep the idea that you want to be able to have plenty to write about and that it needs to be easily monetized in the back of your mind.

Step Two: Narrow it Down and Do Some Research

There are bound to be some potential niche topics that you like more than other ones. Choose the three you think have the most potential.

Now, you're going to do some searches in Google to see if there are already blogs and sites set up in each niche. Also, pay close attention to the ads that appear on the right hand side of the search results in Google. If that niche's keywords are showing a lot of ads, the chances are that it's profitable. You just need to find a sub-niche that you can sneak yourself into easily to get noticed by the market right away.

Step Three: Choose Your Niche!

The final thing you need to do as part of choosing your niche is narrow things down a little bit. As you can imagine, something like "parenting" is a huge niche. It will be awfully hard to rank for such a general niche. One good idea is to choose a smaller subset of that niche. You might do first time mothers. You could even break it down even more into something like "first time Christian mothers." You just need to be sure it will a topic you're interested in blogging about and that you can easily monetize. Browse through sites like Clickbank.com, CJ.com, and others to make sure there are monetization options.

If you follow the important principles that are found within these steps it will be easier than ever for you to choose a niche to blog about. Don't get too caught up in the details and try to perfect the decision, however, because then you'll never get started. There are literally thousands (if not millions) of great niches out there that you can earn a good income from. These steps will help get you there.

5 Ways To Cash In With Your Blog

Blogging is all the rage these days for many different reasons. For one thing, it's a lot of fun to be able to express your opinions about something or share information with people all over the world. You also have to remember that the people who visit your blog are often ready and willing to spend money! Use these 5 ways to cash in with your blog to add some padding to your wallet.

Cash Tip #1: Put Your Ads Where People Can See Them

Bloggers often make the mistake of slipping a tiny affiliate link in somewhere on the blog. These will rarely get found and clicked on! Now, you don't want to be annoying with your ads, but if you have found something that is relevant there is no reason not to display it proudly so your visitors see it and click on it. It's hard to make money if no one knows you are selling something.

Cash Tip #2: Build a List

It's a great thing to have visitors to your blog, but it's even better to keep them coming back for more. You should focus on building a list of people who are interested in your niche topic. That way you can tell them when you create new blog posts, as well as let them know about special offers you think would be of interest.

Cash Tip #3: Sell Advertising

There are many people out there who are pushing the same affiliate products and promotions. The returns can often be low as well, depending on which niche you're in and what products you're affiliated with. Once you get to a relatively high level of traffic it's a great idea to sell advertising spots. Companies are ready and willing to spend money on this form of advertisement, and you can often make more with these direct deals than you can by going through an affiliate organization that takes a cut.

Cash Tip #4: Create a Product

After you've had your blog running for a while you'll hopefully have developed a loyal following. People see you as an expert in your niche and they want to hear more of what you have to say. A great way to cash in on this is to create your own ebook, videos, audio, or a combination. This is easier to do than you think, and you can have a great, passive income once the product creation phase is over.

Cash Tip #5: Split Test

You might have heard about split testing as a great way to figure out the best format for sales letters, but did you know that you could split test ads on your blogs? There are plugins and software packages out there that can present one ad to one group and another ad to another group. That way you can cash in even better by knowing exactly what it is that your target audience responds to best.

There you have it! These are five tips you can put to use today to start seeing a return in profits on your blog tomorrow. There is nothing better than knowing that people out there are not only reading your content, but adding to your income as well.

Blogging Has Changed - Have You Made These Changes?

When blogging first became popular it was incredibly easy to just throw up some posts, get indexed, and make some money. In fact, a lot of pros were just creating free blogs that made money left and right. Well, these times are 'a changin', so you better change with them if you want to make some great cash with your blogs.

The first thing that has changed is the way the search engines view blogs. When they were relatively new, it excited the engines because they found freshly updated content everywhere they turned. This was great for a while, but the search engines soon caught on. You see, people began to just set up "splogs" all over the place. The fact that it is a blog doesn't mean it's quality. There are still people to this day who think that splogging is the way to go, but you're going to build a real business that will create lasting income.

The second thing about blogging that has changed is the ease with which you can get noticed. In the early years it was easy to become top dog blogger in your niche because there weren't that many of them out there. These days everyone seems to have a blog. That means it can get pretty darn crowded when you're trying to make a splash.

That doesn't mean you should just throw in the towel just because there are so many other blogs! All it means is that you need to step up your game. Think about what it is that makes your blog unique. Consider what you're going to do to get your visitors to come back and visit time and time again. Standing out from the crowd is a must these days.

The third thing that has changed about blogging are the monetization options. Gone are the days where you can just slap some Adsense up on your blog and expect to make a lot of money. It can be a little bit more difficult to make money (depending on who you ask), but when you find what's right for your market the returns can actually be a lot higher than they used to be.

Finally, the role of the blog has changed. It used to be that people would just gather samples of everything they found on the web and comment on them -- a "weblog." These days a blog can be a verifiable portal of great content and information all on its own.

If you're just relying on commentary of other sites and products to keep yourself going, it's time to step your game up. It's always better to write compelling, thoughtful blog posts that will capture people's attention. You're not just reporting on the game other people are playing, you're inventing the game as you go.

Methods and techniques in Internet marketing don't tend to stay static for very long. If you want to be a successful blogger you have to be sure you're standing out.

How To Choose The Best Blogging Platform For Your Site

Choosing the right blogging platform is a very important first step. You can liken it to needing to find the perfect car. Sure, they will all get you from point A to point B, but some do it better than others. There are some that are faster, more effective, and more reliable.

The first kinds of blogging platforms are the free versions of popular software. Blogger.com is the one that is owned by Google and it's very easy to use and completely free. The only issue is that you don't really own your blog as it is hosted by Blogger. While the software is great, you're pretty much out of luck if they decide to pull the plug on you.

The other major, free blogging software is Wordpress.com (not to be confused with Wordpress.org, which is self-hosted). This is also very easy to use, and it is hosted by Wordpress. Be extremely careful if you're going to do a lot of affiliate marketing on your blog. Wordpress.com has been known to shut sites down without warning!

As you can probably tell, it is generally a better idea to self-host your blog so you have total control over it. As you start getting good traffic you'll definitely want to ensure that there is nothing anyone can do to take your blog away. Setting up a free hosted blog is like putting all your eggs in one basket, and that's never a smart idea. Of course that doesn't mean you can't set one up that is secondary and meant to help you get backlinks.

Hosted blogs are much better for most people. One of the oldies but goodies is the Moveable Type software. You do have to pay for this, but many people think it's worth it. It's a very powerful way to blog.

Most bloggers, however, seem to prefer Wordpress.org blogs. You host these on your own server, so you have total control! It's similar to Moveable Type in that it's easy to use, but the differences in the support and plugins available is incredible.

There is a huge community set up based around Wordpress. You can find plugins to help you with SEO, to run a membership site, to backup for you, to sell eBay items, and a lot more! There are also an incredible number of themes you can choose from to make the blog completely your own.

So, which one should you choose? Again, most Internet marketers tend to choose Wordpress. You might want to as well since it is phenomenal software and offers everything you need. Better yet, it's so easy to use that you can have a blog up and running in no time.

It is also important to note that most tutorials written in the IM arena are focused on Wordpress. It seems to be the gold standard for bloggers, and you might want to select it if only to avoid the hassle of trying to learn another system that not many people use.

Why Blogs Are An Easy Way To Attract New Customers

There are many companies out there that are using blogs as a way to attract new customers. If you haven't started a blog yet, you're definitely missing out! People love the constantly updated content and the feeling like they are getting to know the people behind the company. Static websites where you sell things are great, but blogs are really the heart behind the operation.

If you have an e-commerce site or a site that is advertising your business, when was the last time you updated it? If you're like many companies then it's around once or twice per year! That's simply not enough when it comes to ranking in the search engines and giving people a reason to come back to your site.

When you have a blog, you're definitely giving people a reason to stick around. They like knowing what's on the horizon for companies. They like knowing that there are people behind the corporate door. An added perk to blogging is that you'll tend to rank more highly in the search engines. Since your content is always updating, the spiders will come by more often. The faster you are able to get indexed, the faster people find the new, relevant posts you are making.

As you know, a large part of making sales is ensuring that you have the confidence of the customer. Blogs are a great way to increase confidence, once again, because it shows the more human side of the company. Customer also like it when they have a chance to interact and leave comments. That gives them the feeling that their voice will really be heard if they go with your company for their purchase.

You can start to think of your blog like a magnet. While there are many different sites out there that are competing with yours, none of them will have the personality and feel of your blog. It attracts the engines and it attracts people. These people will turn into customers if they like what they see!

Hopefully you're convinced that starting a blog is definitely a good thing. The next step for you is deciding on how to get started! Many companies make their blog an extension of the website. For example, you might have comanyname.com/blog. This works well because people can associate it with your main site, but it's able to stand on its own as well.

After you have your blog set up you need to decide what kind of content you're going to offer. It's a great thing if you plan content that will really get people excited. For instance, run contests where you give your product or service away, or at least a percentage off, if people leave a comment on your post. Other posts can be informative of what's happening now or what's going to happen in the future.

The important thing is that you give your blog a voice. It should represent your company and everything your company stands for. When you pay attention to details like this you'll have a successful company blog that attracts new customers left and right.

How Anyone Can Cash In With Their Own Blog

When you hear the term "blogger" do you think of yourself? If you're like many people then you might find the idea intimidating! While most people enjoy reading blogs, there are few people who think they can become bloggers themselves. It's time to put that thinking aside because anyone can run a successful blog!

One of the major hang-ups is that some people don't like to write. If you find this is a problem for you, it can feel like getting your blog started is hopeless. The good news is that you don't have to be Mark Twain to write good content. People care less about how you say it and more about what you're actually saying.

It also helps that content is generally expected to be short and to the point on the web. People are so busy these days that breaking your text into small paragraphs and bullet points is ideal. That makes your life easier as well!

Another hang-up you might have is that you don't consider yourself to be an expert on any one topic. Once again, you can easily overcome this. The way that people go from being in the dark to being an expert is by researching! Research your topic and start writing about it and you'll be an expert soon enough.

Now that you know you CAN start your own blog, it's helpful to know how you can cash in! Basically, people are always looking for information on the web. There are also always people who are buying things online. You're going to attract people with the things you write, and set your blog up so that you can entice them to buy things they are interested in. It's a great way to make money!

Your first step needs to be picking a topic that will be a good money-maker for you. Look to see if there are ads and products readily available. You should also try to narrow your topic down so it's easier for people to find you. For example, instead of "weight loss" you might write about "weight loss for first time moms." Narrowing things down is helpful for you and your blog visitors!

After you've chosen your topic you will:

  • Find a domain name
  • Get hosting
  • Do Keyword research
  • Write Content
  • Monetize

That's a very simplified version of the steps you're going to take, but that's all there really is to it! Blogging is something that does take some time and effort, but it's also something that anyone can do. You can cut down your learning time a lot by looking to the blogging experts to learn their exact process. You can tweak things and make them your own from there!

After that, cashing in is just a matter of writing content, choosing the best monetization strategy, and watching the profits start to roll in. The best thing for you to do right now is to decide that you are going to become a blogger, and take action right away. Success is right at your fingertips.

How To Get More People Commenting On Your Blog

Getting people to comment on your blog is often one of the most challenging parts of being a blogger. Even if you're seeing a lot of great traffic, that doesn't mean that people are going to take time out of their day to comment. You need to have a few tricks up your sleeve to make it happen; but when you do it will be well worth it because the comments will start pouring in almost immediately!

There are only a few reasons people will stop to comment on blogs:

1. They disagree with what you had to say
2. They get something out of it intrinsically
3. They get something out of it externally

The first one is really referring to those "linkbait" posts. Writing these is a great way to get people to comment on your blog. These are basically content pieces that stir something up in people that compels them to argue, agree, or just share their thoughts. These are often controversial postings that are written either because you feel strongly about something or you are hoping to generate some great discussion amongst the members in your niche. Either way, these post can be gold when used in the right way. They attract people to your blog like a magnet.

The second reason people comment is because they get something out of it intrinsically. This basically means they just feel good by posting (or need to get something off their chest), or want to congratulate you for a job well done. That is a huge reason why having great content needs to be such a large focus of yours.

The third reason people comment on blogs is because they get something out of it externally. That means that they get some kind of prize or reward for their comments. For example, you might post that the first person who can answer X question will win a prize. Or, you might ask them for their thoughts on something and you'll pick the best one to give the prize to. No matter how you do it, these eternal rewards are a no-fail way of getting people to comment on your blog.

There is just something about getting things for free that people can't seem to get enough of! You should always make your prize good so that people will want it, but you'll find folks going crazy over the simplest prizes around. You could run one of these every month, or even every week. If you do them at random times you'll have people stopping by all the time to see when your next giveaway will be. This creates a great community full of people who are eager for your next post --- and soon enough it won't be just because they might win something!

As you can see, it's easy to get people to comment on your blog if you understand the reasons why people comment in the first place. It's all about keeping those future commentators in your mind as you plan your content.
